Metro Politan is an independent, non-commercial art project that Kuvvat (Annamyrat) Ashyrov and Batyr Gylyjov started in 2024, reworking public-domain images from the open-access collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rijksmuseum through Swiss typography; the name nods to the Met, with no tie to the museum. It spans a family of marks, a poster series, apparel mockups, motion pieces and a short CG film made in Cinema 4D, Seedance and After Effects, set in SwissTime and in SwissNow by Newglyph. Concept, art direction and graphic design by Kuvvat (Annamyrat) Ashyrov, motion design and CG film by Batyr Gylyjov.
Kuvvat (Annamyrat) Ashyrov sets public-domain artifacts from the Met and Rijksmuseum against Swiss typography, in a self-initiated identity that tests what an archive can become.
